Inspiration Friday

Inspiration Friday
I am joining Debra at Common Ground today for Inspiration Friday... Please join her and be inspired!

November 18th two years ago my father went to be with his Heavenly Father, my inspiration today comes from him.

My father was an only child born and raised in South Dakota to a blacksmith/farmer and a loving  Austrian. He went to WWII as a Seabee in the Navy, he always felt fortunate that he spent that time rebuilding and not fighting.

He married his high school sweetheart on an overnight pass and after the war, went to art school in Mpls. MN. I was born there 4 years later. He worked as a graphic artist out of a studio in our home and started his own business doing a lot of work for Moody Press. He came to the knowledge of the Lord before I was born and spent the rest of his life spreading the love of God.

He was such a talented man, there wasn't anything he couldn't do well. He could pick up an instrument and play it, he sang beautifully and painted with great perspective. This is my favorite painting of his. He wrote a couple of books and could hold an audience for hours speaking and teaching. With that of course there is a wrinkle, he had high expectations of himself and others and lacked an inner confidence which you would never know or see.

He stepped out in faith and started a church when I was a teenager. There were 4 of us, I have two brothers and one sister. He felt the calling of the Lord on his life and gave up his business became an ordained minister and started Compassion Christian Center.
At that time, the rebellious teenager that I was, I thought he had gone off the deep end. Now I look back and can't imagine the faith that it took to totally depend on the Lord.
The Lord was faithful and blessed Compassion.
It wasn't easy.
During that time my brother had just graduated   from high school and was an apprentice to a carpenter, that fall while hunting he was shot and he died on the way to the hospital. It was a hard time for our family... I watched my dad at his sons funeral stand and preach the love of God.
My father went on to preach the gospel all his life, he got his Doctorate in Theology at the age of 72.

We are called to become followers of Christ and that does not mean your life becomes perfect, on the contrary, it is not meant to be easy. He is forming us into His image and through growth there is pain. It is not an easy walk He has called us to but I see no other way.
My father, was not a perfect man, he made major mistakes in his life and wasn't always easy to get along with. But from his speaking tours across the middle east to his home meetings he was known as
"The Love of God Man"
and
My inspiration...
Blessings

A RE-Purposed Life

What's in a name?

I am changing my blog name and my direction...

sometimes life hands you changes. I believe that is by design... my Heavenly Father has a plan and a path for me and it is up to me to follow where He leads.

It is above all else - it is why I am here.

I am here to glorify the Father.

Late last summer I had a life change. I closed my shop and walked away from retail, this was not an easy decision but a neccessary one. For the past 3 years I enjoyed having my own shop but with the economic changes it was no longer to be, so I did not renew my lease and I believe this was the Lords will for my life. Since closing some wonderful things have opened up for me and my new path has become a little clearer.
My focus and desire has always been on being creative in some form or another - that desire comes from the essence of who I am, formed by God.  I believe our desires connect with what God has for us and our assignment. This assignment is not always clear at first and it can change, it takes faith and as we trust God and step out our faith grows and we grow in Christ.
That is what I have been doing and the Lord is always faithful. I am excited to announce that I will be speaking and holding workshops on expressing our faith through our art. Art & God.

A RebeccaErsfeld-Purposed Life...

I will be in Virginia April 30 speaking and holding a workshop at the Lutheran Womens Luncheon, I will announce more later and in March I will be at the Imagination Congregation in CO. KC Willis has started these workshops and I am thrilled to be apart of it.
I will also be holding workshops locally and I am planning a Spring show in the garden.
So lots of wonderful things ahead and I hope you will join me on this journey and new paths to discover.
I am keeping the same blog address so I will not loose touch with all of my friends and my blog shop is still Vintage Living.

I want to thank Karen at Valentine Designs for my new look... she is fabulous. Please stop by her blog and tell her what you think.

Many Blessings

Inspiration Friday

Hello, I am joining Debra with Inspiration Friday a little late this morning, I was up late with a project I have been working on. I will share that later.
My inspiration this Friday is my kitchen, this is my kitchen table... it looks like this pretty much all through the Holidays. Oh I clean it up enough to eat on it but then it all comes back in the evenings. I have two studios and I use them during the day but in the evening I love being at the center of things and that is my kitchen.

I love how the light comes through the window, my kitchen face southwest... a wonderful evening light.

I have morning glories that grow on the side of the house, right out of the sidewalk... they have been there forever. I took this picture last week, they are gone with the frost now. (yes, my windows need washing)

Right now the table is full of stars, I need to replace the ones that sold at Horton's.

I have had emails on them, and I am sorry I don't have them up on my blogshop yet, but I will.

I hope this helps inspire you to do a little Christmas project and enjoy this time of year.
Please join Debra at Common Ground for more inspiration!
Many Blessings

Horton's Christmas and White Wednesday

Hello
Happy White Wednesday, I am so excited to finally have time to join Kathleen at Faded Charm again and all the wonderful white blogs she has lined up for her White Wednesday posts. Please be sure and check out all the other blogs.
This is my second post on Horton's Christmas Open House and as promised I am showing you my space I had on Saturday there.
As always I love a white Christmas so that is what I mainly do... white.
I made stars again, they are my signature at Christmas. I have been doing them now for 18 years and I really never tire of them, no two have ever been alike, that is what I love about vintage. I also made cones, wreathes and trees along with quite a bit of small ornaments. I will be listing them on my blogshop this week. I hope this will give you some inspiration for the Holidays.

I had mentioned in my earlier post that Donna and her husband were so kind to have me as a guest in their home for this event. They are renovating their home and bit by bit are getting things done. One of the rooms recently done is the guest bedroom. I wanted to show you the luxury I was in while at the Jenkins home. Donna keeps you updated on the renovation progress on her blog
Everyday Elegance.

She tarped this whole room out of canvas to make it look like a tent, with such detail even down to the leather strapping.

She has butterflies made from old book pages in the netting on the chandelier and around the room

The sheets were like butter and the old soft white quilt was like heaven. She had the Christmas issue of Jeanne d' Arc Living waiting for me on the bed.
Thank you again for such a fabulous weekend, it was so appreciated from the bottom of my heart!

And thank you Kathleen for hosting another White Wednesday.
Many Blessings
Rebecca
