As I said, in my prior post I needed a place of my own, a place to be alone with God. Somewhere to read, pray, listen and dance if I felt inclined.
This project has been a lot of fun and I have enjoyed it... it could have gone a little faster but then what project ever does.
Please check out the before pictures on my last post.
So enough said here is the after pictures.

Here are some of my favorite little treasures that I have collected and have gotten from special friends.
The book pages on the ceiling are from an old bible and the walls are covered in painters tarp.
I needed something that covered the lathe that showed in the corner by the door.
I used furniture tacks to attach the canvas tarp, it gives it an old upholstered look.

I love the button bracelet around the candle that I got from my good friend Susan "Z" at Old Grey Mare and the beautiful orchid in the glass dome is from my sweet Deb at Talking Trash.
The little French silver religious purse charms are from my daughter Jody, they open up with miniature books and a rosary inside.
The sachet with the angel was a gift from sweet Polly at Counting Your Blessings.
Polly came to see me last week at the Fleamarket, and I was thrilled to meet her and her lovely family. She also has The French Cupboard and Porch magazine which I was honored to be on the cover this Christmas issue. She brought me a fabulous clock cloche filled with wonderful goodies, bless her sweet heart.
The wonderful collage hanging on the door is from my very talented friend Lisa at Tarnished and Tattered, it is one of my favorites.
The linen purse is from my good friend Donna at Everyday Elegance, I just love the color and the ruffles... it just looks great hanging on the door knob.
The morning sun, it is beautiful sitting here with my cup of coffee looking over the trees.
My prayer request wall.
Keeping a mindful account of those that have special needs or just prayer, as we all do.
I will be having a prayer request page on my sidebar shortly. The talented Karen at Valentine Designs is helping me with this.
Love my old bear...
My perch
A little Christmas...
I put in a twin bed to use as a sitting area and an extra bed for company.
The duvet cover I made from an antique European sheet I had gotten in France
I used the painters tarp to cover this cubby also, it was a door way to the dormer and crawl space but I defined the walls with the tarp and now I can use it for a side table.
This is such a cool old bentwood chair, I had gotten two of them, they are from an old theater. They are Victorian and swivel. I slip covered this one in cream crewel work, it had burgundy velvet on it.
And sometimes I am not alone...
I hope you enjoyed my make over as much as I did... It still needs a little tweaking, and of course it will evolve over time. I will be posting more before and afters of my house projects after the first of the year. If you have any questions on this one, please email me, I would be happy to answer them the best I can.
Please don't forget to join me for my
Birthday Blog Party,

Many Blessings

R.E.,
ReplyDeleteI don't even know where to start...unbelievable.
Let me start by saying thank you for including that little orchid in your heaven on earth. It makes me feel like I'm with you.
I literally gasped when I saw the 1st window photo, but I stopped breathing with the next photo. How perfect with God's own spotlight on that Bible spine.
There is so much beauty in this tiny room starting with you and ending with that precious baby perched on the bed.
Well done my friend...very well done.
Debbie
Wow Lisa, it's just beautiful! I love the prayer request door - such a great idea. I want to just walk in and sit on your bed - everything looks so cozy and comfy.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness me.....as an adult...I so appreciate this space and what you have done with it. But as a child ( my childhood)....it would have been HEAVEN for me. I use to love to go up in our attic...as FAR away from the chaos going on in my home....as I could.
ReplyDeleteYou have done a marvelous job of adding MORE of your favorite things up there...so you can go and enjoy them there too.
How old is your home ?
You only see lathe in homes over 50 or 60 years old as I recall.
Rose
Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteMy heart skipped a beat or two for the sheer beauty and significance of this special room in your home. I want one! How full your heart must be when you retreat here and how blessed your guests will be to stay there. There are not adjectives enough to describe the perfect balance of charm and beauty you have created with a new twist on "old world" elegance. Love it all!
...such a lovely space to go and dream!!!
ReplyDeleteI adore the morning light at your desk, and fear that if this were my space ~ that I'd never leave:)
beautiously romantic!!
Happiest W. W.!

Be still my heart...OMG! I adore this little slice of heaven called your attic. What a calm respite this would be for me! Thanks, Thanks so much for sharing this. Terry
ReplyDeleteOh my Rebecca! It is wonderful. The tarps on the wall with the tacks to cover the lahe issue- just genius. And that bed- well, I could crawl in there and sleep for a week. "A Room of One's Own"- you did it. And while you have made a place to be with God, God has been with you. Merry Christmas, my friend.
ReplyDeleteBuongiorno Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteI can usually start a comment by saying " Bellissimo and my favorite piece is...." I am in love with your attic, every single detail is my favorite and my jaw dropped when I could see snow through your window...so peaceful my friend. Ciao Rita mammabellarte

Well isn't that just a little slice of heaven!?! Beautiful, just beautiful....
ReplyDeleteWhat a breathtaking retreat...and your little visitor is so sweet!
ReplyDeleteJan
Oh, *oh*... this is not tweaking me because of the sense of peace and comfort and sheer beauty you've established in this small space, but it reminds me of that childhood need to want a high-up hideaway... I think I actually want to cry....
ReplyDeleteok, I need to rewrite that first sentence. "This is tweaking me not just because...." There. Makes more sense now. Too emotional to make sense, I guess.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and inspirational place to pray, journal and dream.
ReplyDelete-Danielle
That´s such a beautiful place your have got Rebecca. So peaceful and wonderful. I love everything you have put in there.
ReplyDeletexo Tina

ReplyDeleteI think God is smiling!!!
You are just a "power-house" creator!!! The beaded chandelier in the front window has my name all over it!*!*!
ReplyDeleteJeanine, ChiPPy!-SHaBBy!
I just have to say.... I closed my eyes for a moment and imagined myself laying back and just reading the walls. I could hear the crackling fire and feel the soft cushy pillows behind my neck. Your attic is what I call an emotion evoking creation. Lovely indeed.
ReplyDeletePerfection!
ReplyDeleteSmiles and compliments on a job well done...enjoy your sacred space!
Pat
Dear sweet Rebecca.....what a slice of Heaven!!!!! This little nook is so beautiful to me and so inspirational as well ~ I love that it's at the very top of the house...so much nearer to Heaven!!!! Just gorgeous ~ I need to go back and study each photo again!!! Wishing you and your family have a wonderful Christmas, hugs and love, Dawn
ReplyDeleteRebecca,
ReplyDeleteWell that is about the prettiest room I have ever, EVER seen! The architecture is amazing, that window! So beautiful with the lace laying on the ledge of it. Only you would have the nerve & the skill to re-purpose a french sheet into a duvet! And the desk stool, never seen anything like it. I'm very honored that you would include my art in that wonderful prayer room. Love it all Rebecca! Lisa
Hello, I love your pretty attic space! All of the quaint touches make it feel very vintagey and the bed just looks too cute! Love it!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Olivia

I'm hypeventalating here. It's unbelievable gorgeous. It would have taken me a lifetime to complete that....if I even could. The light streaming in is just so beautiful. I think WWC needed to reshoot at your home again.
ReplyDeleteOk I'm going home now and getting depressed...lol
I'll be dreaming tonight of your space.....like heaven!
xx
Carole
How wonderful, it is truly breath taking! Men call their special room man caves. This is the total opposite, we have to come up for a word...Lady caves, no, that won't work ....I think your right, how about Lady Heaven?
ReplyDeleteCarol
What a fantasy place you've created in your attic space... wish I had one too... though here in S. Texas it would be hotter than Col. Sanders fried chicken... so guess I'll just have to sit and admire yours! Blessings. Dixie
ReplyDeleteRebecca,
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore it all!!
Love the paper walls! The sweet collage, purse, vignettes, bible in basket, just everything. I'm going back through and drool some more!

Wow, I would SO LOVE to have an attic like that! It must have been so fun to decorate it! You've made it a little slice of heaven - must feel like you've truly gotten away when you go there. I want to fall asleep on that bed and take a cozy winter nap ;) I'm going to follow you, maybe you can stop by my blog sometime and if you like it, follow me back ;)

ReplyDeleteLove it!!
Your attic is breathtaking and my heart is beating fast. This is a wonderful, beautiful and heavenly space! What a lovely creation.
ReplyDeleteOh, would I ever love to have a place like that, but in this Texas heat it would be more like that other place (you know, the opposite of heaven). And most certainly, I don't have your touch.
I found you through Common Ground. Happy Holidays from your latest follower.

Looks fabulous mom, love you and cant wait to see you soon.
ReplyDeleteI so love your upstairs attic space-secret, magaical, and wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a Magical place your Sanctuary is!!! *swoon* And the best part for me was reading what meaning there is in each lovely piece displayed... they all have a Story... one rich and deep in sentiment since so many were gifted to you by those Loved ones in your life who were thoughtful enough to present you with something very "you" that would truly be cherished properly and displayed proudly! I am very much like that so I enjoyed your entire shared Story, I could relate to it on many levels. Christmas Blessings and a Happy, Happy, Joyous Birthday to you!!!
ReplyDeleteDawn... The Bohemian
Oh my gosh Rebecca, this is absolutely GLORIOUS! I am afraid I would never leave!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Judy
What a beautiful attic room. You don't see attics much here in So. Cal. I wish we had one! I love everything you've done there.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Christmas!
Blessings,
Marcia
OH MY WORD REBECCA I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYSPACE SO INCREDIABLE..ALL YOUR TOUCHES.. YOUR SPECIAL TOUCHES I NEED TO GO BACK & LOOK AGAIN I THINK I MIGHT PASS OUT... YOU NEED TO HAVE A BOOK PUBLISHED..MOST OF THE CRAFTY BOOKS BEING PUBLISHED I FIND BORING..YOUR SPACE IS BEAUTIFUL BEYOND WORDS. GOD BLESS YOU & YOUR FAMILY ALWAYS. XO lAURA
ReplyDeleteAFTER LOKING AT YOUR PICTURES AGAIN, I THINK THIS IS YOUR LITTLE SLICE OF HEAVEN.
ReplyDeleteSheer magic! We don't really have attics out here...just "crawl spaces"...and they are as lovely as they sound! ;} My ideal has always been the attic in Sleepless In Seattle...I have watched it a million time just to see that attic {this is probably not something I should put in print! ;} But your attic beats it by a mile! It's simply gorgeous! I think I could gaze out that window for weeks! I am awed!!!
ReplyDeletem ^..^
Wow you did SUCH a fabulous job! I love it... how fun!
ReplyDeleteI think the most important thing is that you have created a space for Jesus and His Father, the Almighty. In a world where He is fast becoming obsolete in many minds, he can still find solace and a warm welcome in the hearts and homes of many.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you with his presence in that room, no matter what the decor, it is a warm welcome to Him, Live up to the challenge of staying faithful.
Meredith
Oh this is so wonderful, beyond words!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT ALL!!!!!!!
I hope you do not mind, but I saw several ideas I would like to incorporate into the new room at my store. (you can let me know if it is not OK)
When I show pics on my blog I will link to your wonderful blog. =)
blessings,and thanks for the links.
barbara jean
This is your attic? Gorgeous! Our walk-up old house attic is full to the rafters with stuff! That's why I had to open an Etsy shop. Maybe someday I'll have space for a beautiful room, too.
ReplyDeleteLove your attic...and as someone said (above) great that GOD and Jesus have a designated place in your home. I've always wanted an attic but here in California very small chance of that unless you get a really old home.
ReplyDeleteLoved your comments on the post where you wrote about the copper roof...really LOL at how you reacted finding out how much the guy sold the copper roof for. Cordially, Mary
Isn't it wonderful what monochromatic white does for a small space? Makes it so special. You have done a bang-up job and I congratulate you. Now I must investigate the rest of your blog...you've got another fan!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Some good ideas! Thanks for sharing. :-)
ReplyDeleteAmazing attic... ok, now I am inspired to redo my tiny eight foot by twenty four foot tiny house loft. Your attic is just so sweet.
