Happy Birthday...
to me!
My birthday is one week before Christmas to the day. My mother's due date was the 25th but the doctor shook his finger at her and said,
"don't you dare call me on Christmas!"
She claims it scared her into birthing me a week early.
Because we always traveled that week to SD to visit my grandparents and spend Christmas there, my gifts were usually combined with my Christmas gifts. I am not the only Christmas baby that this happened to but because of that I have never had a birthday party.
Because we always traveled that week to SD to visit my grandparents and spend Christmas there, my gifts were usually combined with my Christmas gifts. I am not the only Christmas baby that this happened to but because of that I have never had a birthday party.
Now before you start feeling sorry for me, my family always remembers my birthday and our tradition is I open my birthday gifts Christmas eve before we open our Christmas gifts and yes, now I get birthday wrap. I have never felt neglected or missed out on... in fact I always felt special because my mom always said I get to share my birthday with Jesus.
This year however is somewhat of a milestone so I thought it would be fun to throw myself a birthday blog party!
On December 18
please join me in celebrating my birthday by posting a special gift you have made...
but not for me, for someone special in your life. It can be anything it just needs to come from the heart. An ornament, a poem, a photograph, something you have fixed up or collaged or baked. It is up to you...
You just have to post about why you want to give this person something special and show what you have made. I in turn will pick out 3 of my favorites and give a present to the 3 chosen. Because it is my birthday and it is better to give than to receive.
Present #1
One of my Angel Tree Toppers
Present #2
Pearl Glass Trees
Present #3
Christmas House
I hope you will have fun with this and come to my birthday party. Please leave a comment and I will set up linky the day of the party and we can celebrate!
Yay...
Please take this button and link it back to here and spread the word, I would so appreciate this day to celebrate with you...
Adding on some Fleamarket pictures from the Christmas show I did last weekend. It snowed most of the night and that morning we set up, so it got a little messy. My son was a sweetheart and went with me... couldn't have done it without him.
If you see anything...give a shout, I can oblige...
I am linking up with Kathleen at Faded Charm for White Wednesday also, check out all the beautiful blogs all dressed in white to be inspired...

Hey Rebecca~
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!! ... I don't know if I can relate directly with you concerning the date of your birthday but, I can relate firsthand with your Mom!! My first son was born THE SAME DAY as you, December 18th {1987 ~ he'll be 23} ... I still struggle to this day with the guilt each year of combining his birthday with Christmas .... and yes, most of the time his presents are wrapped in Christmas paper ... and yes, the present is usually swiped from his Christmas presents hiding in the closet ; ( ... no matter how hard I try, it always comes down to this. And to top it all off .... 18 years later I did it all over again, my second son's birthday is December 30th! {he'll be 5} .... he get's the short end of the stick as well .... like I said I can TOTALLY relate to your Mom! However... she obviously did a great job, you seem to be a well adjusted woman and hopefully my kids will turn out well too!!
I'm going to do my best to join your bash ... I'll be out of town that day, but maybe I can get my post up early. We'll be in Florida experiencing Disney at Christmas with my youngest boy and won't be home for the oldest boy's BD at all ... guilt, guilt, guilt!!!
Happ, happy birthday to you ...
xo

Oh Rebecca, I would love to attend your birthday party... thanks for the invite! I've never had a birthday party either, but it was of my own wishes as I was very bashful as a child, and still don't like being the center of attention! Here's wishing you a very happy Birthday!!!
ReplyDeletehugs~~ Daphne

I've given "her" the assignment of gifting. Let's see if "she" can deliver....maybe if I bribed "her" with some birthday cake.....
Purrs!

What a great "party" idea Rebecca. I know exactly what you are talking about beacuse my birthday is the 19th. I think it bothered me more as a kid, but now I don't really even want any more birthdays so if people forget, it's no big deal.
ReplyDeleteI really want that mantel.....you don't suppose it would cost much to ship it, do you? LOL
Take care,
Kathleen
The birthday party sounds like so much fun, thanks for the invite , I'll be there! I love your feal market display...if you have any of those smaller bottle brush wreaths left I'd be interested!

Happy Belated Birthday! My husband's DOB is Dec. 9th. The nicest people are born in December. :)
ReplyDeleteHere is a gift for you. Christmas is not almost over. I see that you are a believer. So everyday is Christmas for us. But as far as the consumerism of the day, technically the first day of Christmas begins on the 25th. It ends 12 days later (hence the song) on January 6th, the Epiphany. While everyone is always scrambling to pull their trees down I leave mine up until then. So put it up and enjoy. I probably won't get to mine until tomorrow after church. Better to arrive late to the party than not at all.
Rebecca dear, I didn't think I'd be able to join in on the party, but I'm going to try, if you don't mind it being a part of the VIF post. I'm putting up your party button on my sidebar. Sorry to be such a latecomer.
ReplyDeletemuch love,
Debra
Happy, Happy Birthday to You Rebecca... What a time to Celebrate~

ReplyDeleteRebecca, I wish you a blessed birthday and many more to come. May God grant you wisdom, joy, grace, faith, and all kind of spiritual gift so you can continue to bless other the way you do. I admired the love relationship you got going with the Lord, and Rebecca if you have that you don't need anything else since He takes care of us. THank you for blessing my life, have a blessed day, Marta.
ReplyDeleteRebecca, First off, Happy Birthday! I found your blog through Sandy at Quill Cottage. I love the idea of sharing like this. You have a lovely blog. I will be back! I grabbed your button and posted my 'special gift' on my blog. I am new to all of this, so I think that is what I was suppossed to do. Have a splendid day, make it your own.

I can totally relate to your Christmas-time birthday. Mine is December 23 and in addition to being two days before Christmas, I was born on my mother's birthday, so I get double pooh. My first birthday party was three years ago when I turned 60, a total surprise from my husband!
ReplyDeleteHappy Belated Birthday.
