Spring Collage and GiveAway Winner

Congratulations to Sherry!
Please visit Sherry at her new blog and give her your best wishes!
I want to say a big thank you to all of you that left comments and have become followers. You are all awesome and make this so much fun!

I hope all of you are enjoying this first week of Spring!

I am in my studio creating fabric collage with a Spring theme.  Fabric collage is so much fun but for me a little messy. I don't know about you but I have a visual messy order when I create. Are you laughing? I can hear you and I know that laugh either comes from the fact that you know exactly what I am talking about or you think I am a little off.  Now I have to confess that most of my surfaces are filled, and that is usually because I have at least 4 or 5 projects going on at once. I have somewhat more ideas in my head than room, anyone like that out there? I am sure I am not the only one. Now my sister is neat as a pin and has a bin that is labeled for every thing. We are not alike and that is probably why we get along so well. Now don't get me wrong I love things to be in order and I have things displayed to inspire me and I know where everything is... it just is in artistic piles!

Such as this pile of lace in this wire basket... I love the fact that it is piled and I can see it, so I can grab just the right piece when I need to. I have a thing about my treasures being in either something old or glass containers. Just a quirk. How about you, any quirks?

I know all of us create in different modes and that is what makes it all so wonderful.  Sometimes I feel like a square peg in a round hole but the older I get the more I appreciate all the differences in us. And if blogging did one thing it was to show me how different all of us are yet how much we are basically the same.  How encouraging each other in our differences is like a healing ointment that covers our everyday wounds from life.
If you would like to see more of my studio, I will be featured in the next issue of Where Women Create. I am so grateful to have met the gals from this wonderful magazine and now call them friends.

I hope your first week of Spring is going fantastic and I doubt I will be able to get another post in before I leave for Texas. I will keep you posted on my trip and hopefully I can take lots of pictures. Did I mention I am going with the gals from WWC and so looking forward to spending time with such talented gals and meeting so many friends from blogland.
Blessings
Rebecca

White Wednesday...Playing With the Morning Light

Playing with the morning light... I love the sun from the east. It comes into my dining room and lights up my dishes like jewels. This morning I couldn't resist shooting it from my little snap and shoot camera, I don't claim to be a photographer-so please don't judge.
Please check out the other white posts at Faded Charm with Kathleen today.

Dirty winter windows :(

This is a Victorian wedding center piece, I have posted it before. It is made of all white linen flowers.

This compote was a fabulous reticulated old creamware piece that one of my daughters broke when she was young. I foolishly had it sitting on my coffee table at the time and it got knocked off. I came home to it sitting on the kitchen table all glued together with some peices sitting next to it. My daughter spent the afternoon trying to fit the pieces together, afraid of the consequences when I got home. After the initial shock and nausea subsided I put it away. Some years later I found it again, after all the babies were gone and  I smiled... it is now one of my favorite pieces and it sits in a place of honor with the rest of the dishes.

I hope you enjoyed your visit this wonderful white Wednesday, a big hug and thank you to Kathleen.

If you haven't signed into my 300 follower give away please do so on my previous post, it ends March 22nd.

Thank you so much for stopping by today...please leave a comment as I love hearing from you!

300 Follower GiveAway

I have mentioned in the past that I grew up in an artists' home and with that comes some instilled thinking or at least strong influences on art in general. Opinions that were not questioned, it was just fact on certain matters. Not that I agree with all that I was taught, as we get older we form our own opinions and art is a personal preference. My father also went through different phases in his art as we all do. He painted mostly still life but had a period of abstract art which fit in our contemporary home. But one rule was not altered and that was original artwork was hung on the walls, no prints. I have kept to that rule most of my life for some reason, although I have found some old lithos that I have hanging. With that in mind, I fell in love with Victorian oils. I have a small collection some are good, some are charming and simple, some are not so good but I love the fact that probably a housewife painted some of these as an expression of herself. I have quite a few simple Victorian rose oils, it was fashionable in that day for women to take painting lessons. That is why you see many paintings of the same subject. I have posted some of them for you today, a mixture, some done by accomplished artists and some by women like you and me... I love them all.

This French painting is quite large and is one of my favorites.

This is a pair of very old Italian paintings that I received from my husband one birthday.

Love the frame on this one and the color

I am leaving you with my favorite all time painting that my dad painted when I was a child.
