And the winner is... Sherry from Blessings from Our Nest
Congratulations to Sherry!
Please visit Sherry at her new blog and give her your best wishes!
I want to say a big thank you to all of you that left comments and have become followers. You are all awesome and make this so much fun!
I hope all of you are enjoying this first week of Spring!
I am in my studio creating fabric collage with a Spring theme. Fabric collage is so much fun but for me a little messy. I don't know about you but I have a visual messy order when I create. Are you laughing? I can hear you and I know that laugh either comes from the fact that you know exactly what I am talking about or you think I am a little off. Now I have to confess that most of my surfaces are filled, and that is usually because I have at least 4 or 5 projects going on at once. I have somewhat more ideas in my head than room, anyone like that out there? I am sure I am not the only one. Now my sister is neat as a pin and has a bin that is labeled for every thing. We are not alike and that is probably why we get along so well. Now don't get me wrong I love things to be in order and I have things displayed to inspire me and I know where everything is... it just is in artistic piles!
Such as this pile of lace in this wire basket... I love the fact that it is piled and I can see it, so I can grab just the right piece when I need to. I have a thing about my treasures being in either something old or glass containers. Just a quirk. How about you, any quirks?
Spring inspired drawings with sepia ink on linen.

I know all of us create in different modes and that is what makes it all so wonderful. Sometimes I feel like a square peg in a round hole but the older I get the more I appreciate all the differences in us. And if blogging did one thing it was to show me how different all of us are yet how much we are basically the same. How encouraging each other in our differences is like a healing ointment that covers our everyday wounds from life.
If you would like to see more of my studio, I will be featured in the next issue of Where Women Create. I am so grateful to have met the gals from this wonderful magazine and now call them friends.
I hope your first week of Spring is going fantastic and I doubt I will be able to get another post in before I leave for Texas. I will keep you posted on my trip and hopefully I can take lots of pictures. Did I mention I am going with the gals from WWC and so looking forward to spending time with such talented gals and meeting so many friends from blogland.
Blessings
Rebecca

ReplyDeleteI love your creative space as well. Yep, I like all my materials displayed in pretty, vintage containers. I believe that we are more creative when we surround ourselves with inspirational pieces, whatever that might be.
Lovely post.

ReplyDeleteRebecca, your spring fabric collages are beautiful! I'm not into bunnies normally, but yours are realistic enough to be beautiful and not overly "cute". I love all the laces dripping off the piece. Have a GREAT time in Texas!

Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteYour fabric collages are just stunning. Absolutely beautiful.
I so appreciated reading your post tonight. I can relate to quite a bit of it. Mostly that I love order, but if I put everything away that I create with, I can't remember what I have, so I love it all out!!!
congrats on the magazine article!
Lynn
Dear Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteI dont think that it matters whether you are tidy or messy when you create. ...in fact, I'm sure that all of the great artists were messy !! haha.
Your creations are beautiful. You are an inspiration to us all.
Have fun in Texas. Our son and daughter-in-law have been in Austin, Texas for a music festival and are now in San Fransisco. Enjoy your trip there. XXXX
I love them, they are so beautifull, love the drawings, and tones on every collage.

ReplyDeletemy quirk ... I have Attention Design Disorder ...
Gorgeous fabric collages!
ReplyDeletecongratulation to the winner!
Hi Rebecca - Yes, I'm laughing well sort of. My mess is no laughing matter. You did see me "Good, Bad & the Ugly" post on my messy studio recently, right? Everyone else's messy studio looks a little better than their own. Maybe, because we don't have to tidy it up, LOL.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, wonderful work! Love the basket and jars of pieces just waiting to became something beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm off to congratulate Sherry on winning.
Happy Midweek Blessings ;-)
Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the mag girl! You are so awesome & I can't wait to see where 'the magic' comes from. Are you still home, or off on your Jo adventure in TX? Love the collages you made, they have inspired me very much. I have no talent to draw so I will use little sketches on canvas from Michelle Palmer & try your technique. I always get a dose of inspiration visiting you. Lisa
I love your work. I just had the same conversation with my husband who came into my studio and looked around and gave me one of those looks. I told him that many artists need their things around them to keep them creative. I am a very visual person and wouldn't be able to work unless I was able to see my things. He doesn't understand which is just fine because now I know I will never have to share my little studio with him;)

ReplyDeleteI can certainly relate to your craft space being a mess- I inherited a collecting gene and never throw things away! I not only keep fabric, but also paper, and other stuff as well! I am so blessed to have an understanding husband who doesn't get frustrated with all my "junk"! Your work is lovely and congratulations on having your studio published!
