Decorating for Christmas
This year came a little late and a little sparse but I still enjoyed the moment...
Please join Kathleen at Faded Charm to see more of a White Christmas...
Starting in the dining room, I put up a vintage white paper tree.
It dresses up the front of the house.

Old wooden gates flank the floor to ceiling windows in this old 1860's home. The old comfy chair in the corner is slipcovered in old table linens.
I love to use fresh greens and old silver...
the mercury glass silver is one of my favorite ornaments to use.

The old iron hand painted fire place I found in NM
I love the birds painted on the sides
Everything always looks better in candle light, this old gal included.

I love Wedgewood....
My grandparents on their wedding day.
The front entry way
We have hot water heat, so we have covered radiators throughout the house... it makes nice shelving.
My Kitchen
Fresh rosemary tree, makes the kitchen smell wonderful...
Old chocolate molds with whiteware
Christmas decorations will be continued tomorrow.
The living room and family room will be posted.
We will be leaving for Minnesota, land of snow, tomorrow. I talked to my daughter and she said they have 40" on the ground right now.
We will be joining my whole family for Christmas.

R.E.,
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw your post on my side bar, I told myself...self, you better go get a cup of coffee, you'll want to linger a while. I'm so glad I listened to self, 'cause she was right.
Beginning with the mercury glass candles to the molds that look good enough to eat with or without chocolate, your home is beautiful. All the details are spectacular.
Will you be traveling by plane, train, or dog sled? However you go, God be with you and have a wonderful Christmas.
Btw...this old gal looks better in candlelight too!

Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteScrolled down quickly first, then made a latte and returned for the l-o-n-g
scroll though all these beautiful rooms. Do people tend to ignore conversation as they head twist around to take it all in?
I want to just trail my fingertips along all the wood and touch all the fabrics and peer into all the cupboards. I would be a nosy albeit appreciative guest I swear.
I am wishing you a very safe trip, the weather this year is just horrid, Ben is still not home..so please be cautious and we'll visit in the New Year.
BIG hugs
z
