Vintage Christmas Monday

Welcome to Vintage Christmas Monday hosted by Joan at Anything Goes Here, Please view all the amazing blogs she has listed for this spectacular Christmas event!

It has been a long week in the shop... but it is finally looking a lot like Christmas! The shop has been torn up, cleaned and now sparkling with Christmas Magic... here is a glimpse but we are not finished yet! We have our big event A Vintage Christmas Open House this Thursday evening and Friday and Saturday. If you are in the Chicago area please come join us, we would love to share our Christmas joy and inspiration.

I Believe...

I Believe... in the miracle of Christmas

I Believe... in the love that was brought down from Heaven that Christmas night that was meant for the whole human race.

I Believe... that whether you believe or not that God pours out His love especially at Christmas and by His grace everyone experiences that love in some measure, depending on how much we allow ourselves to believe.

I believe... it will take my lifetime and after to fully understand what Christ the Son of God did for us... when he humbled himself and became a baby laying in a manger that first Christmas... to become our sacrifice so that we might know the glory of God our Father and become Sons of the Living God.

Here is my mess...

Just like walking through mud...

I just hate foam packing and foam peanuts!

Finally starting to look pretty...

I had a struggle with lights this year, anyone else buy lights and only half of them light...grrrr

My favorite whites... Christmas White!

Here is one Dee Gann Santa that we will be featuring at our Open House...she is such a brilliant Santa maker! Please visit her web you will not be disappointed! We have featured her Santa's every year for the past 10 years, they always sell out quickly... they are one of a kind with vintage clothing and trim. Dee Gann...spectacular!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend...mine is just coming to an end with the children. They are packing up as I write this, so I will be sad today but I will see them in a few weeks for Christmas! All those little ones running around has kept me busy and has blessed my heart. I am Thankful for I am Blessed.
Blessings to You,
Rebecca

Welcome to White Wednesday

...And another Christmas project.

First, I would like to thank Kathleen at Faded Charm for hosting another week of White Wednesday. Please go over to her blog and check out all the wonderful gals listed, you won't be disappointed. There are wonderful whites waiting for you!

This week I am still working on stars but I have added angels to the mix along with some banners.
The first Angel is made on a cone so it can be a tree topper. All the angels are made with vintage fabric, millinery, lace, trim and graphics. The face is from an old ad I found in a 1900 magazine. The wings vary from old millinery leaves to folded sheet music.
I am doing a workshop on these angels December 10th at the shop.

The back

This angel is made with silver lace that is trimmed with mink fur. I don't know if you can see it or not

This is the banner we will be doing in our workshop this Thursday evening in the shop. It is made from all vintage sheet music, lace and paper in a collage style. They are putsy but fun to do. This one says JOY but I also do DREAM, HOME and NOEL. Or your name. The letters are glittered.

Well, that's it for this White Wednesday! I hope you have a wonderful week and enjoy all your projects you are working on for Christmas... I know I am. I would love to hear about them - I will be stopping by and please leave a comment I always love hearing from you.
Blessings
Rebecca

Thanksgiving Table

ThanksGiving at the shop

Just a few shots of my Thanksgiving table at the shop...it seems Thanksgiving is passed by because we go right into Christmas.

**Twas the month before Christmas****When all through our land,* ***Not a Christian was praying* ***Nor taking a stand.* ***See the PC Police had taken away,* ***The reason for Christmas - no one could say.* ***The children were told by their schools not to sing,* ***About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.* ***It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say* *** December 25th is just a 'Holiday'.* ***Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit* ***Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!* ***CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod* ***Something was changing, something quite odd! * ***Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa* ***In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.* ***As Targets were hanging their trees upside down* *** At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.* ***At K-Mart and Staples and Penney's and Sears* ***You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.* ***Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty* ***Are words that were used to intimidate me.* ***Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen* ***On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!* ***At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter* ***To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.* ***And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith* *** Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace* ***The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded* ***The reason for the season, stopped before it started.* ***So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree'* ***Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.* ***Choose your words carefully, choose what you say* ***Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, **not Happy Holiday!***Please, all Christians join together and**wish everyone you meet**MERRY CHRISTMAS**Christ is The Reason for the Christ-mas Season! *
I don't know who wrote this little ditty, a friend of mine emailed it to me and I thought it well worth posting.
I don't know about you but I have about had it with all the political correctness... I am not going to give up my beliefs because someone else doesn't agree with them. And I do not expect them to give up theirs. But Christmas was based on a Christian belief that comes from the birth of our dear Saviour and so when you come into my shop you will hear MERRY CHRISTMAS...

Blessings

White Wednesday & Working On Christmas...

Welcome to White Wednesday...

Love this picture of my daughter sleeping with Luke...my precious grandson who is now 12...

Random pictures from my studio

White Wednesday hosted by Kathleen at Faded Charm has been such a faithful host week after week...I wonder if she is sorry she started this??? It has been so much fun for all of us, I have really enjoyed participating even though I haven't much the past few weeks with my computer problems... and today I am cheating a little and combining my last post with WW. I promise next week I will wow you with White :) Be sure and check out all the wonderful whites at Faded Charm, you will love it!

I am honored to accept the Kreativ Blogger award from Linda at
Coastal Charm It is so nice to be recognized by such talented and creative woman whom I have met through this wonderful experience of blogging. Linda has such a great blog be sure to go over if you haven't and check out her fantastic blog.

Now the rules of the award is I am to bore you with seven things about myself and then award seven other blogs. So here goes:

1. I was born and raised in Minnesota, we lived on a lake in the Twin Cities and I spent my summers on the beach and winters on the ice.

2. I am the oldest of 4 children

3. I lost my dad last November 18, he was 83 and I miss him very much.

4. I have 5 girls and 1 son and all the girls say I favor my son...do you really think that is true????

5. I love the sunshine and the winter's are hard on me because they are so gray here in IL.

6. I have to have my coffee in the morning... it is one of my absolute favorite moments of the day - sitting quietly and taking that first sip of coffee.

7. I will be having Thanksgiving at my house and all my children come home... it is heaven.

Now I know this is a busy time of year so I am going to pass this award on but if you can't accept it I truly understand. But if you haven't been at these blogs be sure and check them out they are wonderful.

Anne at Fiona and Twig
Betty at SammyGirl
Tracey at French Larkspur
Chrissy at The Apothocary Shop

Thank you again Linda, it was very sweet of you to think of me.

Christmas Projects Continued...

As I mentioned in my previous post I will be in my studio working on Christmas projects for the Vintage Living Open House.

This week I am working on stars, Santa stockings and angels. I will post angels later on this week when I have some done
These are my Santa stockings... they are made from all vintage fabrics, trims, small charms and miniatures. The face is taken from an old face I found and I mold it from wax and paint it. It takes me at least 4 days to assemble one Santa, excluding the preparation of the face and sewing the stocking and Santa's clothing. These are very putsy. I have been doing these for quite a few years but don't get too many done a year

We have had such nice weather the last couple of days so it has been nice working in my studio and listening to Christmas music with 70 degree weather. For some of you this is normal but not in the Midwest.

Tinsel...this is pure gold-well not really it tarnishes but then that's what makes it soooo wonderful!

Shelves are getting full of Christmas

More stars I finished this week...

More finished stars!

Thanks so much for stopping by...

I always look forward to hearing from you, I hope you have a lovely week.
Blessings
